The Community of Rocklands Gallo Manor enjoy City of Johannesburg APPROVED Security Access Restrictions or Road Closures.

The affected area is a Residential Community comprising of 264 (two hundred & sixty-four) properties (Erven).

The community is defined as being bordered by Kelvin Drive to the South, the ESKOM Kelvin Sub-Station, the Medical Park and the Country Club Johannesburg to the East, Ashby Estate and the Country Club Johannesburg to the North and Bowling Avenue to the West.

The Access Restriction Structures as applied are;

  • A manned boom on Letaba Drive near the T-junction with Bowling Avenue with 24 hour access (opposite SAPS – Gallo Manor) primarily serving 170 Erven of 264 Erven (those south of the stream) and all 264 Erven between 20H00 and 06H00, Stop Streets and Security Control Points as defined by the Road Traffic Act,

  • Permanently closed Gates with Emergency Access and a Pedestrian Gate at Canterbury Crescent near the T-junction with Bowling Avenue.

With regard to the Temporary Closure of Canterbury Crescent between Hampton Court Road & Satara Avenue by the Johannesburg Roads Agencyand our recent Application for Renewal of our Security Access Restrictions and the Advertising Notice for such, we have been Instructed by Chiza Mahlobo, City of Joburg's Specialist Systems Management: Transport Department that "Due to the material change that’s being requested, you will have to advertise the Hampton Court Road gate as a 24 hour access point. You will need to operate that gate as a 24 hour access for the entire approval period whether or not the JRA does complete its repairs within the 12 or 24 months".
